Boxwood Bush- Poisonous to horses?

I have searched and havnet found much on this. Yesterday, my horse ate a piece of boxwood that was lying on the ground. I didnt realize until it was almost gone but managed to pull out the stem (or some of it). I did read one site that said it can cause damage/death. But how much do they need to consume and how fast are the effects?
