Can anesthesia cause a long term muscle loss?

My doberman puppy had his ears cropped day before yesterday. Pick up was yesterday afternoon. He came home groggy and I thought not to much of it. BUT today all day he has just laid there. He ate ham and cottage cheese but he can not get up. We are on our way to the vet just wanted to see if anyone knew anything.
