Can i take benadryl everyday for my allergies?

or any other similar medication that helps with allergies, because i suffer year round, every single day i feel groggy and it feels like i have a constant cold, its not nice. So i hate taking any medication but i dont think i can go through the rest of my life feeling like this everyday, im asking the doc for allergy shots next time i see him, but until then is it ok to take benadryl every single day for as long as i like? or is it wise not to? thanks.
