Are northern ringneck snakes poisonous?

I voted for Xingen's answer as the best. Northern ring necked snakes are constrictors but, strictly speaking, they don't strangle their prey. Once constricting snakes wrap their body around the prey, they suffocate it. Once wrapped by the snake, the snake constricts it's body each time the prey exhales. It doesn't take long before the prey suffocates to death. Snakes mouths are not very sanitary. You can get infected by a snake bite but most of the time it doesn't pose a problem. The best policy is not to handle snakes.
